Day
Environment Day for
Christ Academy meant a chance to spread the message of saving the
earth. The days events were inaugurated by Mr. Naik assistant
conservator of Karnataka Forest. He exhorted the students to be
conscious and spread the awareness around. There was a procession
where students were at their creative best dressed up as trees,
plastic men, dustbin men, tigers and even fairies, their loud slogans
awaken the consciousness of local populace towards environmental
awareness. Their message was put up as "Re-use the past Re-cycle the
present and save the future." Lets go green!!! The procession was
followed by a street play which dramatically brought forth the need to
save Mother Earth before it was too late.
Visit to KCDC
A visit to KCDC (Karnataka Compost Development Corporation) by the
students of Christ Academy under the guidance of Mr. Gopal and Dr.
Jaishree senior KCDC officer Mr. Nagaraj, who is highly experienced.
The visit was mainly to study the waste management. The different
processes involved in composting the Biodegradable waste into a
Natural Manure. Besides learnt about vermi-compositing and different
methods of waste management.
Sports Day
14th November, 2009 was
a special day at Christ Academy as 5th Annual Sports Day was
celebrated along with Family Day. Christ Academy is special in
everything it does. Accordingly this year, the school emphasized the
need for parents’ participation in sporting activities along with
their wards. As children got enthused seeing their parents perform,
the parents too were keen to prove a point or two in front of everyone
present.
An accomplished international footballer of the past, Mr. Aslam Khan,
was the Chief Guest for the occasion. He hoisted the school flag,
released the doves and declared the meet open. Also present was Fr.
Jose Nandikkara, Manager, Christ Academy, who was the Guest of Honour.
The sporting extravaganza started with the ‘Inter House March past’
which was participated by both the parents and the children. This was
followed by the Lighting of the Torch, Oath-taking Ceremony, Karate
Demonstration, Pyramid Formation and vibrant Displays on various
themes by students of different classes. Thereafter a variety of
sporting activities followed which was very keenly contested by the
students and their parents in different categories.
As the day drew to a close, Blue Bells emerged undisputed champions
followed by Shamrocks, who came a close second.
Eureka-interhouse Science Fest
The first inter-house science fest – ‘Eureka’, was held on 13th
November, 2009 at Christ Academy. The fest, which included the
students of Std. VII, Std. VIII and Std. IX, actively participated in
a variety of concepts which included model making, collage, poster
making, dramatization of concept and verse writing. Members of Arocha,
who were present during the dramatization of scientific concepts, were
amazed as the students came up with exceptional imaginative themes and
presented them with finesse. The competition not only helped the
students to showcase their talent and creativity in the events they
participated, it at he same time brought out their scientific
temperament as well.
Children’s Day
Children’s Day was celebrated at Christ Academy on 13th November, 2009
amidst lots of fun and laughter. It was a day, where the children did
not have much to do, other than sit back and enjoy the show put up by
their teachers.
The programme began with Naomi A of Std. III presenting a speech
highlighting the need and importance of Children’s Day which was
followed by exhilarating performances by the students of Std. I and
Std. II who presented skits based on the history of Karnataka and the
Mughal period.
The teachers started the programme with a prayer service. They also
sang, danced and even acted on the stage. The songs were melodious and
the dances bright and colourful. The skit was a laugh riot where the
teachers excelled themselves on the stage with spontaneous acting. The
children enjoyed this day thoroughly as did the dignitaries and
parents present on the occasion.
Teacher's Day
This special day for the
teachers was celebrated in the institution with a difference. The
students of III and IV std. celebrated Teachers Day with a colourful
programme depicting white and green revolution in India and a Robotic
Dance to commemorate the launch of Chandrayan I. To entertain their
beloved teachers, the students of Std. IX arranged some games for
them. It was a day for all the Christ Academy teaching staff to
cherish.
Resourceful Visitors
Christ Academy campus
often gets enlivened by the visits paid by spiritual hearts and other
resourceful people.
On 8th Aug, Rev. Fr. Thomas, Vice chancellor
Christ University and Rev Fr. Jose, parish priest Holy Family Church, Hongasandra, paid a valuable visit to the school.
Prof. Kurien Kachappilly
presided over the prayer service held on Teacher’s Day and blessed all
the teaching staff of Christ Academy.
Mr. Pradipto Hore, Dept of Maths,
Sarala Birla Academy spent couple of his valuable hours to conduct a
workshop on Mathematic.
Mr. Vivekanand Upadhyay, Dept. of Hindi,
Sarala Birla Academy, was another resourceful person to guide the
students as well as the Hindi faculty of Christ Academy regarding ICSE
board papers and project works in Hindi.
